Best Management Practices
New BMP Guidelines
The Auckland Council has developed a series of ‘Construction & Utilities Best Management Practices (BMPs)’ for common utility related activities that can have a detrimental effect on the environment.
The BMPs are targeted at construction and field crews and provide clear step-by-step guidance on how to promote best environmental practice, improve environmental performance, and more importantly, minimise risks and adverse environmental effects.
The BMPs provide guidance on accepted site practices and environmental controls.
Products to Achieve BMP
Dalton International offers a range of products that contractors and field crew can use to help them implement the BMP guidelines. In order to make the selection of products simplier, we've created a separate section for 6 of the BMP guidelines published by the Auckland Council (click on images to the left of this text).
- Catchpit Protection
- Dewatering
- Working With Concrete & Asphalt
- Spill & Emergency Management
- Trenching
- Directional Drilling
- Working In & Around Trees
Within each BMP section you will be able to download the BMP guidelines and see which products we recommend to help achieve the aim of each guideline.
Good Ideas Are Not Restricted to Auckland
Even if you're not in the Auckland region it is worth looking at the BMP guidelines for each of the common activities as they are likely to provide you with ideas on how best to minimise any adverse environmental effects in your region.
